Zambia - In the Bush
It has been another incredible two days. Yesterday we visited a center where widows create handbags out of discarded plastic bags and sell them to support their families. The center also cares for over 300 orphans. The whole thing was started by a women whose husband works for World Vision in Zambia and she does the whole thing part time. They purchased a bar/brothel and have set up a school and factory. We drove over 4 hours in a Land Cruiser through dirt roads on over washed out bridges to our new location. We are visiting water projects and homes where WV children are sponsored. We walked over a mile through the bush today to visit one family where a 15 year old girl and her 12 year old brother live alone because their father died and their mother has been in the hospital with AIDS for months. They are watched over by a World Vision Caregiver who is a volunteer and visits several times a week. I will upload pictures later and tell a few stories.
