World Vision in Senzani

We are visiting the Senzani Area Development Program (ADP). It is one of 42 that World Vision has in Malawi. There are 33,260 people living in the ADP which was established in 1996. There are 22 WV staff serving here. The goal of the ADP is to provide support in food security, education, health, water, HIV/AIDS and sharing Christ. The results are impressive. Enrollment in school has more than double to over 10,000 today and the graduation rate has risen from 52% to 77%. Safe water access has risen from 20% to 48%. HIV/AIDS infection rates have dropped from 17% to 7%. And since 1994, there hasn’t been one maternal death during child birth. As you can see these are some impressive results but there is so much more to do. There are many households where both parents have died from AIDS and the children are now forced to raise themselves with the oldest caring for their siblings.
