Johannesburg
I landed in Jo-burg around 3:00PM today. It is a big modern city. I talked with some folks at the airport who just went on a safari hunt and shot some giraffe and zebra (its like hunting at the zoo). Ernest who works with World Vision picked me up and drove me to the hotel I told him I wanted to go to someplace exotic for dinner. He took me to a place called Carnivore. There are two of them in Africa. One in Kenya and one in Jo-burg. It was like a Brazilian steakhouse except they serve wild game It is all roasted over pits of charcoal and they bring it around and carve it at your table. I had antelope, ostrich, crocodile, wart hog (Pumbha), and some others. It was all very tasty. They started it off with a delicious potato soup and homemade bread and they served the meat with baked potatoes and salad. They had like 10 sauces to dip in. I must say my favorites were the antelope and ostrich It was one of the best dining experiences I've had. And of course the atmosphere was authentic safari. I finished with a fresh tropical fruit salad with homemade vanilla ice cream I have some pictures I will post later. Tomorrow I'm meeting with the South Africa World Vision staff and going to the Apartheid Museum and the Lion and Rhino park. I can't wait.
