Care Giver Kits
This weekend my family and I traveled to Menlo Park Presbyterian Church to be a part of their Compassion Weekend where they shut down their services and do service projects around the community. One project they have taken on for the past three years has been building World Vision Care Giver Kits to be distributed to HIV/AIDs Care Givers (volunteers who go from home to home helping those who have HIV). The kits include, medical gloves, medicine, flashlights and general supplies used to care for patients. Mrs. Lister is a Care Giver who traveled to America from Zambia was able to share her story about being involved in distributing and using the kits. Earlier this week she spent time at the White House with First Lady, Laura Bush. Lister will be traveling back to Zambia on May 8th and I will have the opportunity to visit her there on my trip. My boys and I had the opportunity to build over 10 kits. What a great hands on way for a family to participate in helping the poor.
